Highlights

As with a number of other Murillo/Malnati Group condominium conversions, in this project the developers seek to undo a half-century of shoddy alterations and restore original character to this classically proportioned Civil War-era building. Plans include reinstalling a prominent cornice and adding an elegant bay window to the north façade of the building. A wall of window openings along the eastern elevation of the building, reduced in size by previous owners to retro-fit cheap replacement windows, will be restored to their original proportions and filled with new, historically correct windows, drowning each of the condominium homes in morning sunlight.

From the roof deck, breathtaking panoramic views in all directions. Within clear view: The Capitol and Library of Congress to the south, the National Cathedral to the west, and the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception to the north.

Neighborhood

Located on a corner in a charming neighborhood of mid-19th century row houses, just steps from the new Convention Center, two Metro stations, and the central business district. Along nearby 7th Street, small businesses, including restaurants, coffee houses and bars, have flourished since the new convention center opened its doors. New construction and extensive renovations are common in the blocks surrounding this building, the signs of a sought-after, up-and-coming neighborhood.
